RECAP
Today we started with Wheels by Foo Fighters. Sometime we are stuck in life and when you think it's over, it's not. Today was about forgiveness and freedom found in Christ. We looked at Romans 8 - There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus - there is freedom. Many of use know we can be forgiven and we might understand we can be free from sin but we often live more like Roman 7 - why do I keep doing that things I don't want to do. Paul talked about that we can find forgiveness and we can be set free from sin. It starts with a relationship with Jesus. We looked at a few other ideas to bring freedom in our life like being honest about our struggles, having some accountability (someone to help us), not giving up if we mess up, praying like crazy, and avoiding the situations that cause our struggles. We also looked at John Mayer's song - Who Say. The song is suppose to be about freedom - who says I can't get stoned or have one night stands or whatever. It isn't really about the who say - it's more about the pain and slavery that come with sin - sin always has consequences. God isn't a cosmic kill joy or someone who hates us so He just gives us all these rules. God is the loving Father. If your kids were going to continue to make decisions and do things that are going to mess up their life, as a parent you do everything possible to protect them and lead them. Same with God - He loves us and wants us to experience life, avoid pain, and be free. That is why Jesus came to give us forgiveness through the cross and cancel the code of sin to give us freedom. We ended the service today with communion.
THOUGHTS
- We were a little off with time today. We actually cut a creative element leading into communion.
- Two of my favorite songs from 2009 - Wheels and How He Loves Us. Band was good today. Steph is amazing. Aaron was ripping. Josh was stepping up and Brian and Brian were great as normal.
- 576 today. We hit our max kids in the 2/3 yr olds at 11:00. Please come to the 9:30 if at all possible. There were also less than 20 parking spots available at 11.00. Last week we had a good split between 9:30 and 11:00 - this week not as close.
- We are working out some issues as we continue to grow. Thanks for partnering with us to reach people, for volunteering, for patience as you wait for coffee and all the other issues were facing.
- Good day. Hope you find freedom this week.
